As the COVID-19 blues continue to lock down city centres around Australia, there’s a growing green rush to safer regional centres like Warwick if the red hot sales at local residential subdivision Aleva Estate are anything to go by.
UKL’s Terry Seirlis, whose company is developing the 58 lot Aleva Estate on Yangan Road, said sales had picked up speed this year with many city slickers relocating to the region.
“Sales have been ramping up with a month on month increase, we sold three lots in May, four in June and five in July with much of this interest coming from outside Warwick,” Mr Seirlis said.
“As the pandemic continues to plague city areas, rural centres like Warwick offer fresher air, friendly country hospitality and an easier way of life and I think it’s that mix that’s boosting the region’s appeal.
“Plus surging house prices in city centres like Brisbane have forced people to consider regional locations where their dollar goes a lot further,” he said.
Former Brisbanite, Ms Sally Keogh, who bought one of Aleva’s largest lots in May to build her dream home, said there was “lots to love” about Warwick.
“There’s so much space, I can build a larger home to work and live and still enjoy a shed and a backyard. There’s great views and I’m within walking distance of the town centre. I also love the sense of community you feel when you drive into Aleva,” Ms Keogh said.
“I am new to the area having moved from Brisbane but the whole experience has been a breeze, I walked through the estate, found the exact block I had in my mind, and Terry made it all happen without any fuss.
“Most of the blocks in the Estate are bigger than what’s on the local market, and certainly bigger than anything I could afford in Brisbane,” she said.
Mr Seirlis said lot sizes at Aleva ranged from 533m2 to 1,219m2 and there were completed houses ready for sale as well as land lots available for buyers to build their own home with their preferred builder.
